Mentorship is a personal developmental relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. However, true mentoring is more than just answering occasional questions or providing ad hoc help. It is about an ongoing relationship of learning, dialogue, and challenge.


“Mentoring" is a process that always involves communication and is relationship based, but its precise definition is elusive. One definition of the many that have been proposed, is Mentoring is a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital, and the psychosocial support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, or professional development; mentoring entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less .

Mentoring in Europe has existed since at least Ancient Greek times. Since the 1970s it has spread in the United States of America mainly in training contexts and it has been described as "an innovation in American management".


Mashura for capacity building, a member of Women Think-Tank Committee organized a sports mentoring walk in Cairo for 45 ladies representing diverse age group. The day to aimed to highlight the importance of mentoring and sports for the Egyptian women with the theme of “Connect women leaders and spark a movement to promote a rising generation through mentorship”.


The sports mentoring walk aimed to demonstrate that power expands the moment it’s shared, and to leverage individual leadership for collective progress. In addition, highlight the importance of sports for women.


The day included several activities such as an energizing circle and mentoring walk and included a number of different key speeches.

Dr. Bassant Morsy, featured her speech about Health tips for women. And another speech about Sports Speech by a number of women sports icons such as Cairo Rollers-[Female Skates Team] and Dr. Rania Elwani. In addition, a speech about Aspire Woman Initiative by Hoda Mahmoud-Mentorship Leader


The day emphasized the importance of Mentorship and exchange of experiences to the empowerment of women and how can mentorship connect women leaders and spark a movement to promote the rising generation as well as the importance of sports.
